How to choose the right fabric?

It's the one question where asked the most when it comes to custom designing your aprons. Which is the best fabric to use?

Is it:

  • All Cotton
  • Canvas
  • Denim
  • Poly/Viscose
  • Poly/Cotton
  • Linen (just don't even bother with this one)

There are so many. I don't blame people. It's tough to figure out which one. To find out how to pick the right fabric, you must first ask yoruself these questions.

DO I WANT A DARK COLOUR OR A LIGHT COLOUR?

DO I WANT A FABRIC THAT'S EASY TO IRON?

DO I WANT A FABRIC THAT EASY TO WASH AND KEEPS IT'S COLOUR?

So what's the best fabric to use then?

Most of our clients go on the feel. That's why they choose fabrics like All Cotton, Canvas and Denim. These fabrics are great, but you NEVER go on how thick it is. You go on the construction of the fabric and weave.

It's like comparing heavy, thick raw metal and titanium. The raw metal looks tough and when you feel it, it feels tough. But the titanium being lightweight is way stronger. Why? Because of how it's constructed.

SO WHAT'S THE BEST FABRIC TO USE?

We usually use poly/viscose fabrics as there a fabric you can pretty much throw anything at. They wash up well, barely have to iron them, keep there colour very well and is how top selling fabric.

The only time we would recommend fabrics like canvas, all cotton and denim is if you really like the look of the fabric and don't care about the wash and wear. Also if there is a colour that's only available in that fabric.

So next time you go to pick out a fabric, go on the construction, not how thick and pretty it looks.
